Renowned Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has opened up about a frightening robbery attempt he recently experienced in Lagos, shortly after returning to Nigeria.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the 47-year-old actor recounted the incident alongside a video and photo revealing damage to his vehicle.
Johnson described the event as a sudden and terrifying encounter that could have ended much worse.
“Lagos needs more than stop-and-search officers who only ask, ‘Oga, how weekend? Anything for us?’” he wrote. “I came back to my country and was greeted with a robbery.”
He explained that the attack occurred in a matter of seconds. “There was a loud bang on my windshield, and suddenly, three men surrounded my car one by the driver’s door, two by the passenger side shouting things like, ‘Yo mirror e’ and ‘Fo glass e,’ meaning ‘remove the mirror’ and ‘break the glass.’”
Johnson attributed his vulnerable position to two large trailers that were blocking the road and veering out of their lanes, leaving him little room to escape.
The actor also revealed this was his second robbery scare this year. The first happened in April around 7:15 p.m., while the latest occurred around 11 p.m. near Alapere, shortly after descending from the Third Mainland Bridge.
“Thankfully, the damage was minimal as shown in the last slide. God is still God. Please stay safe and vigilant out there,” he concluded.
