Nollywood star Annie Macaulay radiated confidence and renewal at the 17th Headies Awards, where she opened up about embracing a new phase of her life.
In a chat with Saturday Beats, she explained the deeper meaning behind her outfit of the night a bold, green Ankara ensemble.
“I feel amazing,” she said. “I was styled by Medlin’s Boss, and I’m proudly wearing Ankara. I love green green is about new beginnings. The land is green.”
When asked whether the color choice mirrored her current mindset, she reaffirmed with a smile, “Green means a fresh start and yes, the land is green.”
Dressed in a two-piece Ankara set topped with a vibrant green jacket, Annie made a striking entrance. But it was her onstage moment that truly caught attention. While presenting the award for “Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year,” she had a slip that hinted at personal change.
Introducing herself, she momentarily stumbled: “Annie Idi… Oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” Her candid recovery sparked cheers and laughter, signaling a clear reclaiming of her identity.
Earlier this year, on January 26, music icon 2Baba confirmed the end of their nearly 12-year marriage. He later made headlines with a high-profile proposal to Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru.
Since then, Annie has kept a low profile, focusing on healing and personal growth. She’s now preparing for a Dubai-based wellness retreat aptly named “Annie’s Journey” a testament to her path of renewal and self-discovery.
