Over the years, the AREDU Development and Empowerment Foundation has continually reiterated its commitment to humanitarian service by showing love to the needy and supporting less privileged individuals, especially those with disabilities.
On Friday, the foundation, through its chairman, Adebayo Akanbi Muritala, popularly known as “Buildozer,” kicked off an empowerment event at CAC Grammar School, Aregbe, Osogbo. During the event, four students each received a sum of twenty thousand naira to assist in paying part of their school fees and other academic-related expenses to help further their education.
Mr. Adebayo also shared a brief history of how the foundation began during the time of his father, Ajani Adebayo Adebisi—a successful businessman known for prioritizing helping others until his passing in 1989. He noted that the empowerment program is held annually in remembrance of his late father.
“AREDU Foundation is for the people. It is a divine assignment given to me and my family to support the less privileged,” Mr. Adebayo said. “Even though I lost my sight in 2012, which felt like the end, God gave me hope and strength to carry on. Now, I extend that same hope to those who are impaired or physically challenged—not to give up.”
In an interview with Insightlinks TV, the parents of the beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude and offered sincere prayers for the foundation and the Adebayo family at large.
In continuation of the program, the foundation extended its empowerment outreach to another community where its office is located. Several beneficiaries gathered at the office, including students from Iwo, Osogbo, and surrounding areas, as well as a man suffering from a visual impairment.
Mrs. Motunrayo Abolubode, one of the beneficiaries whose husband has been battling an eye condition for several years, received the sum of ₦20,000 along with other essential items to support their wellbeing.
Students in attendance at the academic enlightenment, remembrance, and empowerment program included Aderinku Taiwo, Oni Boluwatife David, Akinola Wasilat, and Matthew Ogunbiyi. They all testified to the positive impact the foundation has had on their lives and expressed their appreciation for the continuous support.
The family of Mr. Adebayo Akanbi David expressed their gratitude to God for the success of this year’s empowerment program and prayed that, by God’s grace, next year’s edition will be even more impactful. They also pledged their continued support to the foundation to keep the mission of hope alive.
