Nigerian singer and politician, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has successfully earned a Master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., USA.

Banky W shared the news via Instagram on Tuesday, posting photos from his graduation ceremony.

In his caption, he reflected on the challenges and triumphs of his academic journey, including managing full-time studies, a fellowship on Capitol Hill, and raising two children with his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington.

“I am thankful to share that I have just earned my Master’s degree in Policy Management (some institutions call it an MPA – Master’s of Public Administration),” he wrote.

He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to study at the prestigious McCourt School of Public Policy, calling it “one of the greatest schools on the planet for Public Policy.”

During the course of his studies, Banky W and Adesua welcomed their second child, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington. The couple had their first son, Hazaiah Olusegun Wellington, in 2021.

Reflecting on the journey, Banky wrote, “Parenting two children in the US while earning a full-time Master’s and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill was completely exhausting. But by the grace of God, the strength of faith, and the support of family, friends, and mentors, we did it.”

He also emphasized the importance of self-reflection, stating that success isn’t just about achieving goals but also about personal growth along the way.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup,” he said. “Sometimes you need to step off the dance floor and onto the balcony to reflect on how far you’ve come, who you are, and who you want to become.”

Banky encouraged his followers to stay inspired: “It’s never too late to dream a new dream or redefine the ending of an existing one.”

Having completed his academic pursuits, Banky W hinted at a return to public life and career. “As I prepare to step off the balcony and return to the dance floor, I hope my story reminds you that new beginnings are always possible.”

Banky W previously announced his relocation to the U.S. in 2024 to pursue this degree. With his graduation complete, he now looks forward to the next chapter of his life.
