R&B artist Chris Brown is due to appear in a UK court on Friday following his arrest in connection with a 2023 nightclub assault in London. British authorities confirmed the 36-year-old singer was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Brown was taken into custody in the early hours of May 15 at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, shortly after arriving by private jet.

The Metropolitan Police stated that he faces a charge of “grievous bodily harm with intent” related to an alleged attack on music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023.

The singer, known for hits like “Kiss Kiss” and a controversial past, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at a Manchester court at 10:00 a.m. (0900 GMT) on Friday.

This case adds to a long list of legal issues Brown has faced over the years. In 2009, he was convicted of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Since then, he has been involved in various legal incidents, including assault allegations, a nightclub brawl with Drake’s entourage in 2012, and a 2014 assault charge in Washington, D.C. Other high-profile accusations include a 2016 gun-related incident in Los Angeles and a 2019 rape allegation in Paris, which he denied.

Despite ongoing legal troubles, Brown remains a prominent figure in the music industry. He is set to embark on a world tour next month, with multiple UK performances scheduled for June and July.
