Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido has shared a humorous story about how football icon Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled a dinner they had planned just because his team lost.
According to the singer, Ronaldo had personally invited him to watch a Manchester United game at Old Trafford a few years ago. Plans were in place for a post-match dinner and a night of celebration with Davido and his entourage.
But those plans took a turn when Manchester United lost the match. Ronaldo, upset with the result, scrapped the evening’s events and went straight home.
Recalling the incident on his X (formerly Twitter) page Tuesday night, Davido wrote:
“Football ehn fit give person BP… I remember when CR7 personally invite me come watch match for Old Trafford then a couple of years ago … He don book dinner all! Party chillin etc …. Nah so dem go lose match, bab vex go house. Since that day I still never forgive Maguire.”
Davido jokingly held defender Harry Maguire responsible for the team’s defeat, adding that he hasn’t forgiven him since.
