The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, following multiple cyberstalking complaints.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale told BBC News Pidgin on Monday that the influencer was detained in response to numerous petitions filed against him.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised by several petitioners,” Oyewale said. “He will be released once he meets bail conditions, and the case will be charged in court soon. We are law-abiding.”
When asked about a possible link to Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale clarified that the petitions were from various individuals and unrelated to the bank. He emphasized the EFCC’s responsibility to act on complaints and protect the petitioners.
He added that plans are underway to arraign Otse in court.
More details to follow.
