House of Representatives member Oluwole Oke says his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was driven by his commitment to better serve his constituents and advance infrastructure development in Osun State.

Oke, who represents Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, first entered the National Assembly in 1999. He won re-election in 2003 and 2007, lost his seat in 2011, and returned in 2015. He has since remained in the House, where he currently chairs the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

In a recent interview, Oke said his move to the APC was partly aimed at fostering cooperation with President Bola Tinubu and aligning with the administration’s development priorities.

“I joined the All Progressives Congress to fulfil my vision of empowering people and driving infrastructural growth in my constituency,” he said.

He affirmed his commitment to the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, stating, “I’m ready to play my part in advancing initiatives that will improve lives across Nigeria.”

Oke also underscored the importance of fairness, equity, and justice in governance. He has previously criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, accusing it of sidelining his constituency describing it as Osun’s “food basket.”

Following his defection two weeks ago, a number of PDP members from the Ijebu North area have also joined the APC. However, the Osun State PDP has dismissed his departure as inconsequential.
