Atiku Isah, a factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has officially withdrawn serious allegations previously leveled against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement titled “Setting the Records Straight/Public Apology to Seyi Tinubu,” shared on Facebook, Isah acknowledged that his earlier claims were false and based on misinformation.

Isah had initially accused Seyi Tinubu and Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande of attempting to bribe him with N100 million in Lagos to support President Tinubu. He also alleged that he was abducted, stripped, and assaulted on April 15, 2025, after refusing the offer.

However, in a recent reversal, Isah admitted the allegations were fabricated and influenced by Olusola Ladoja, another factional leader within NANS.

According to Isah, Ladoja orchestrated the narrative to tarnish Seyi Tinubu’s image and destabilize his leadership claim.

“In the video, I said I was abducted and assaulted for refusing a N100 million bribe, and forced to give a false statement on NTA,” Isah wrote.

“I now understand those claims were untrue. Ladoja misled me with fabricated information to advance his own ambition of illegitimately taking over NANS leadership.”

Isah also withdrew his allegation that Seyi Tinubu led thugs to disrupt his inauguration, admitting Tinubu was not even present at the event. He said Ladoja portrayed Tinubu as a threat, claiming he would go to any lengths including violence to prevent Isah from assuming leadership.

“I was misled by Ladoja’s portrayal of Seyi Tinubu as dangerous. He made me believe I was at risk, that Seyi would stop at nothing including murder to keep me out,” Isah added. “In reality, Seyi Tinubu was never at the venue.”

The apology marks a significant turn in the ongoing leadership dispute within NANS, casting new light on the internal power struggle and the use of disinformation in student politics.
