After soaking in Barcelona’s La Liga title celebrations, Hansi Flick has made his ambitions clear: he wants to enjoy scenes like that every year.
The German manager capped off a stunning debut season by guiding Barça to a domestic treble, adding the LaLiga crown to their Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup victories with a win over Espanyol on Thursday.
An estimated 670,000 fans flooded the streets of Barcelona on Friday to celebrate the club’s 28th league title, following the team’s open-top bus parade to the Arc de Triomf.
“When you see the passion on people’s faces, their love for this incredible club, it’s just amazing,” Flick said in a Saturday press conference. “If we could have this every year, that would be fantastic. We’ll work hard to make it happen again.”
Though Flick’s contract runs through 2026, Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste indicated the coach is set to sign an extension in the coming days.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s league clash against Villarreal, Flick hinted at squad rotation but didn’t rule out playing those who celebrated late into Friday night.
“We’ll make some changes, but the final decision comes tomorrow,” he said. “They went out to party a little, but I always say, ‘If you can party, you can work.’ So that’s not an excuse.”
Villarreal are still in the hunt for Champions League qualification, but Flick is determined to see his side remain unbeaten in La Liga for the 2025 calendar year.
“We want to finish strong, celebrate with our fans, and end the season as true champions,” he added. “There are two games left, and we haven’t lost in La Liga this year. We want to keep it that way.”
Sunday’s game could also mark Barça’s final appearance at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc before returning to Camp Nou next season, though an exact reopening date has not been confirmed.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing here this season,” said Flick. “But I’m also excited about moving into our newly renovated stadium. Hopefully everything will be ready when the new season starts.”
