The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked circulating claims that it has scheduled a date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, including services such as voter transfer and the replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards.
In a statement released on Sunday via X by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, the commission urged the public to ignore an anonymous online message falsely stating that the CVR would resume on May 27, 2025.
INEC clarified that no date has been set for the recommencement of these activities and reiterated that any official updates will be communicated through its verified social media handles and other official channels.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that it has not yet announced any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration, Transfer, and Replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards,” the statement read.
“The Commission therefore urges the public to disregard the fake, anonymous statement making the rounds, claiming that the CVR and other associated services will resume on 27th May 2025.”
INEC assured the public that an official announcement will be made at the appropriate time, with full details shared across its official platforms.
