Mohamed Salah has been crowned Premier League Player of the Season for the second time, following a stellar campaign that played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s charge to a record-equalling 20th English league title.

The Egyptian forward, 32, topped the scoring charts with 28 goals, five more than any other player and also contributed 18 assists. Heading into Liverpool’s final match of the season against FA Cup champions Crystal Palace, Salah is just two assists shy of matching the single-season record jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

The award is determined through a combination of public votes and input from a panel of football experts. Salah previously won the accolade during the 2017-18 season.

By securing this year’s honor, Salah ends a four-year streak dominated by Manchester City players. His teammate Virgil van Dijk, who last claimed the award in 2018-19, was among the nominees this year. Other shortlisted players included Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Earlier this month, Salah also received the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award, winning nearly 90% of the vote—marking the largest margin of victory this century.
