As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its local government primaries on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Lagos State Government has announced traffic restrictions around the party’s State Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised the public to plan their movements in advance, as Acme Road will be completely closed to vehicular traffic. Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure smooth flow along alternate routes.

No access to Acme Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and Acme Crescent.

The alternative roads, from Adeniyi Jones: Use Aromire to Allen Junction.

From Allen: Take Aromire to Ladipo Oluwole, then through Guinness.

From Akilo Road: Connect through Wemco Road to Lateef Jakande or Omole.

Residents without essential business in the area are advised to avoid it entirely to ease congestion.

Party Leaders Urge Calm and Unity

At an APC stakeholders’ meeting, party leaders, including GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, called for a peaceful and united primary process.

Olusi emphasized cooperation and consensus-building, saying, “With patience and support, there will be a way out. That is why wisdom is applied in politics.”

Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat encouraged aspirants to align with the party’s electoral process. “Let’s do it the way we’ve always done — through consensus,” he said.

Electoral Guidelines Outlined

Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, reminded aspirants of the privilege of being selected and urged them to uphold the party’s values. He added, “All eyes are on Lagos; we must make President Tinubu proud.”

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala (SAN), confirmed the adoption of indirect primaries for the exercise. All chairmanship aspirants are to gather at the party Secretariat in Ogba with only one agent each. He assured a fair and transparent process.

Ojokoro Aspirant Engages Stakeholders

Meanwhile, Ojokoro LCDA chairmanship hopeful, Mobolaji Sanusi, met with APC stakeholders to outline his development plans. He pledged to drive effective governance, citing his record as former MD of LASAA. “I know what each community needs. With your support, we’ll institutionalize impactful leadership in Ojokoro,” Sanusi said.
