The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has praised the Kwara State Government for constructing the tallest flagpole in West Africa, a 70-meter-high structure that serves as a powerful symbol of national pride, unity, and economic potential.

In a statement released on Saturday by NOA’s Deputy Director of Communication and Media, Paul Odenyi, and made available to journalists in Ilorin on Sunday, the agency’s Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, lauded the initiative as a significant step in fostering patriotism and cultural identity.

“As the custodian of national symbols, the NOA recognises the importance of this landmark in uniting citizens and promoting national values,” Issa-Onilu stated. “The flag flying at such a height not only signifies Nigeria’s sovereignty but also reflects the collective spirit and unity of the diverse communities within Kwara State.”

He further commended the Kwara State Government for creating a structure that goes beyond aesthetics, describing it as a representation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and a driver of socioeconomic development.

“The flagpole’s significance extends far beyond its physical stature,” he added. “It stands as a cultural marker that mirrors the vibrant spirit and ethnic harmony of our nation. It also holds vast economic potential by attracting tourists, investors, and development opportunities to the state.”

Onilu reiterated the NOA’s dedication to promoting Nigeria’s cultural legacy, saying, “Together, we can build a brighter future for our citizens and present the richness of Nigeria’s cultural heritage to the world.”
