The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has barred its executive members at all levels from endorsing or coordinating for any governorship aspirant, as part of efforts to curb internal divisions and maintain party discipline ahead of the 2026 election.
This directive was issued by the State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, during a strategic meeting held with local government APC chairmen and stakeholders at the party’s state secretariat in Osogbo.
Lawal decried the rising wave of internal conflicts and public altercations among party members, driven by rival aspirants’ supporters. He emphasized that the party would no longer tolerate actions that undermine unity or portray the APC as disorganized.
“Any executive member—from unit to national level—is prohibited from coordinating for any governorship aspirant,” Lawal declared. “This is to ensure peace, sanity, and focus within our ranks as we prepare for the next election cycle.”
He warned that disciplinary action would be taken against any member who disobeys the directive, reaffirming the party’s stance on internal order and respect for its yet-to-be-released election guidelines.
Lawal also urged aspirants to caution their supporters, stating that undisciplined conduct could damage their chances and hurt the party’s prospects in the polls.
“The APC has not anointed any candidate. The party remains supreme, and we must all play by the rules,” he added.
He further announced plans to begin registration for new and returning members, as the APC strengthens its grassroots structure for the upcoming political season.
