The Osun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected serial burglar and two accomplices, including a receiver of stolen goods, following a successful operation in collaboration with residents of the Abidogun community in Ota-Efun.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrest was made on May 8, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., when one Adewumi Ademola Olaosun, 42, was caught in the act of breaking into a residential property. He reportedly stole an LG plasma television, a 6kg gas cylinder, and an umbrella before being apprehended by vigilant community members who responded swiftly to the victim’s alarm.
A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects: Adedokun Isiaka, 57, and Abdullahi Hassan, 62, who was identified as the receiver of the stolen items.
”The police disclosed that the suspects confessed to a string of housebreaking incidents that had plagued the Abidogun and Kelebe communities in recent weeks”, Abiodun said.
However, four additional victims have come forward to identify the suspects, linking them to burglaries previously reported on April 24, 2025.
A wide array of stolen items was recovered during the operation, including multiple plasma televisions, gas cylinders, pressing irons, video CD players, speakers, a mattress, a standing fan, kitchen appliances, food items, and containers of palm and vegetable oil.
”The suspects have since been arraigned in court and remanded in a correctional facility pending further legal proceedings”. the statement added.
”The Osun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining the low crime rate in the state and encouraged residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by promptly reporting any suspicious activities”. Abiodun added.
