The Osun State Police Command has successfully arrested two brothers, Ajala Idowu, 40, and Ajala Maruf, 56, for stealing motorcycles in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended on May 8, 2025, following a tip-off and intelligence-led operation by detectives attached to the CP’s Monitoring Unit.

The police received complaints on December 23, 2023, and March 24, 2024, regarding the theft of two motorcycles with registration numbers KNR 759 UM and FNN 898 QE from Maboreje area, Ikirun.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said Upon investigation, the suspects were caught with one of the stolen motorcycles. They claimed to have purchased the motorcycle on Facebook through Ajala Idowu’s account.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Ibrahim Idris, 28, a motorcycle mechanic from Ibadan, Oyo State. The investigation has been concluded, and the suspects have been charged to court.

This recent arrest is part of the Osun State Police Command’s efforts to curb motorcycle theft in the state, following previous successes in apprehending members of motorcycle theft syndicates operating across Osogbo and Ibadan.
