Actress Efe Irele has spoken candidly about the emotional demands of her role in the film My Mother Is a Witch, where she plays a daughter confronting the lingering effects of a painful childhood.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Irele remarked, “The title definitely grabs your attention, but it’s the emotional depth of the story that truly leaves a mark. My character had to confront some intense inner wounds, and channeling that vulnerability was both taxing and fulfilling. Sharing the screen with Mercy Aigbe, who plays my mother, made the experience even more powerful.”
When asked about navigating authenticity in the age of social media, she shared, “Balance is everything. I enjoy using social media to engage with my fans, but I’m also intentional about protecting my peace. Staying grounded is essential my work always comes first.”
Looking ahead, Irele reflected on how her priorities have evolved. “Early on, I embraced a wide range of roles to learn and grow. These days, I’m drawn to characters with emotional depth or stories rooted in real-life issues. I want to be part of projects that resonate, that help people feel understood stories that leave a lasting impact.”
