Nigerian music executive and father of four, Teebillz, is making headlines for his progressive parenting style after publicly welcoming his 18-year-old daughter’s boyfriend into his home.
In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, he shared his reasons, promoting a message of trust, guidance, and open communication with children.
Rather than taking a restrictive approach, Teebillz emphasized the value of allowing young people to experience life while offering parental support. He expressed pride in his daughter’s character and the strong values she embodies.
“I’m proud to welcome my daughter’s boyfriend into our home at 18, instead of caging her and risking rebellion,” he wrote. “It’s a teaching moment to be with a respectful, honorable, and loving young Black man from a solid, two-parent home.”
He reflected on the challenges of parenthood, particularly the emotional and financial demands of raising a child in Los Angeles.
“Eighteen years of private school in LA is no joke. I know my mother would be proud of who I’ve become,” he said.
Teebillz stressed the importance of staying connected with children through open dialogue. “Being open-minded gives them room to explore, question, and find their own truths. My daughter, my responsibility.”
The post also praised his daughter’s boyfriend, Kobe, for his maturity and respectful attitude. Recalling a touching moment, Teebillz wrote.
“I asked Kobe what he liked about my daughter, and he said, ‘I’ve never met a girl smarter than me.’ That meant a lot. He even thanked me, saying, ‘Thank you for raising her, sir.’”
Teebillz ended the message with a gesture of support and humor: “What’s your CashApp, Kobe? #ProudDad.”
