The University of Ilesa, Osun State, has secured 100% full accreditation for all the 23 academic programmes presented following a recent assessment by the National Universities Commission.
The accreditation, contained in the results of the NUC’s October/November 2024 exercise released to the University on Tuesday, 6th of May, 2025, affirms that the institution has met the required academic standards as stipulated in the Education (National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions) Act, CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
According to a statement by Babatunde Fanowopo, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, the accredited programmes cut across five faculties, including Administration, Arts, Computing, Education, and Social Sciences.
The faculties include, Faculty of Administration where Accounting, Business Administration, Transport Planning and Logistics Studies were accredited.
Also in the faculty of Arts, English Language, History and International Studies, Linguistics and Music have been given a nod by the University Commission.
In Computing, Unilesa got accreditation for Computer Science and well sought-after Cyber Security.
In faculty of Education, Adult and Continuing Education, Agricultural Science, Business Education, Education Computer Science, Education Economics, Education English, Education Political Science, Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, Integrated Science and Social Studies were accredited.
Others courses accredited include Economics, Hospitality and Tourism Management and Political Science all of which are in Faculty of Social Sciences.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu described the development as a major milestone and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to academic excellence.
“This achievement is not just a milestone but a motivation. We remain committed to achieving our vision and mission statements, and the University Management will continually work towards taking UNILESA to greater heights,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor also praised the Honorable Olugbenga Onigbogi led Governing Council, management, staff, and students for their commitment and contributions, while acknowledging the role of the Osun State Government under Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. According to him, the Governor’s support in terms of providing critical infrastructure and continually seeing to staff welfare played a significant role in the successful outcome of the accreditation.
Since commencing full academic operations in April 2023, UNILESA has made notable progress in establishing itself as a hub for quality education and innovation in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
