Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju says the legal team of Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has yet to receive formal bail documents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), despite claims he was granted administrative bail.
Adeyanju made the statement Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “VDM has been granted social media bail, as we’ve yet to receive any official documents from the EFCC.”
Otse was arrested last Friday by EFCC operatives, shortly after he reported alleged unauthorized deductions from his mother’s GTBank account. While the EFCC cited “several petitions” as grounds for his detention, no official charges have been filed.
Reports also allege Otse was manhandled during his arrest. The EFCC announced Monday that he had been granted bail, but his legal team maintains they are still awaiting formal notification.
