Prince Emma Okotie-Eboh, son of former Finance Minister Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh and former Chairman of the Chief Great Ogboru Campaign Council (under APGA in the last general election), has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as one of the most outstanding politicians of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

Speaking in Warri, Okotie-Eboh lauded Wike for becoming a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, citing his forthrightness and integrity in a political environment often dominated by opportunistic alliances and unfulfilled promises.

“Wike is a focused and principled politician,” he said. “In an era where political loyalty often shifts based on convenience, Wike has remained steadfast and committed to the truth.”

Highlighting Wike’s achievements as former governor of Rivers State, Okotie-Eboh noted his impactful infrastructural development across riverine communities, made possible through the strategic engagement of Julius Berger to execute large-scale road projects.

“By prioritizing real development over vanity projects, Wike demonstrated political courage and a genuine commitment to the welfare of his people,” he stated. “His approach stood in stark contrast to the mismanagement of public funds seen elsewhere.”

He also commended Wike’s principled stand during the 2023 presidential election, where the former governor insisted on upholding the principle of power rotation to the South, even when it meant opposing his own party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“Wike’s insistence on fairness, even at great political cost, and his refusal to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) speaks volumes of his integrity. He stayed loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supported its candidates at the state level, reinforcing the value of honouring agreements.”

Addressing Wike’s current role as FCT Minister, Okotie-Eboh backed his reforms, particularly the demolition of illegal structures that violate the Abuja master plan.

“Wike’s commitment to restoring the aesthetic and structural order of the FCT aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda,” he said. “His policies benefit the general public, even if they upset a few entrenched interests.”

He further stressed that Wike’s ongoing disagreement with suspended Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara stems from his consistent insistence on respect for political agreements. “Wike supported an Ijaw man for the governorship selflessly, but expects loyalty to agreed principles.”

Okotie-Eboh concluded by describing Wike as a rare example of integrity and service-driven leadership in Nigeria’s political arena.
