Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday led a delegation of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors to meet with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
Among those present were Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), all known allies of Wike and members of the now-defunct G5 group that broke ranks with the PDP during the lead-up to the 2023 elections.
While details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, the visit is widely seen as part of ongoing political consultations and possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It will be recalled that the G5 governors had opposed the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2023, insisting the party’s ticket should have been zoned to the South. Their stance led to their eventual support for Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who later appointed Wike as FCT Minister following his victory.
