A 46-year-old Nigerian woman has captured national attention after revealing in a heartfelt radio interview that she has never been in a romantic relationship or had sexual intercourse.
The woman, who remains unnamed, shared her story on Kokoro Alate, a programme on Agidigbo FM hosted by broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat.
She spoke candidly about years of loneliness, rejection, and being mocked as “grandma” by younger people, despite being financially independent and hardworking.
“I am 46 years old. I’ve never had sex. If there’s a way to test it, go ahead. I don’t chase men. For years now, men treat me like I’m too old. I’m not lazy I run my own business but the rejection is overwhelming,” she said tearfully.
Her emotional testimony struck a chord with listeners across Nigeria and quickly gained traction online, sparking a wave of empathy and support.
In a follow-up broadcast, Hamzat revealed that the woman had started receiving marriage proposals from men, including Nigerians living in the United Kingdom and United States.
“We’ve received calls from serious-minded men who want to meet and marry her,” Hamzat said, adding that she had been invited back to the station to consider the proposals.
The story has since inspired conversations on loneliness, societal expectations, and the pressures faced by women in similar situations.
