The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Governor Cornelius Adebayo, who died at the age of 84.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Governor AbdulRazaq described Adebayo, fondly known as C.O. Adebayo, as a true patriot, respected statesman, and committed progressive who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.
“C.O. Adebayo was an embodiment of integrity and principle, consistently standing for justice and the common good. Through his many roles in public service, he earned widespread respect and admiration,” the statement read.
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that Adebayo’s contributions during pivotal moments in Nigeria’s history marked him out as a courageous democrat and leader of high moral standing.
On behalf of the people and government of Kwara State, the Governor extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late elder statesman.
“I pray that the Almighty grants him eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” he added.
