Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has publicly confirmed her separation from her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, Adebayo revealed that the couple has been separated since April 2024 and is now focused on co-parenting their son.
Wishing her ex a happy birthday, she wrote:
“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you… May God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations.”
She went on to clarify “Yes, you heard me right. My husband and I have been separated since April last year. We’ve chosen to peacefully co-parent our dear son, who means everything to us.”
Adebayo also addressed fans and followers:
“To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Reflecting on the emotional challenges, she added “While I go about making others happy during the day, my pillow has been soaked with tears most nights over the past 14 months. But I find strength in Christ, who loves me unconditionally.”
She encouraged compassion and empathy:
“Let’s learn to be kind to others. You never know what someone is going through until they speak up.”
Supportive messages have since poured in from fans and colleagues. Actress Regina Chukwu commented, “Biola… it’s well.”
In 2023, Adebayo shared that she and Akinrinde had a brief courtship, marrying within six months of dating. The couple welcomed their son via a surrogate in April 2023.
