Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, accompanied by his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, and other top officials, has arrived in Nigeria ahead of the Second Session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM).
The delegation touched down in the early hours of Tuesday at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where they were warmly received by senior Nigerian government officials. Among those present were the Deputy Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and two other ministers.
Speaking during the airport reception, Senator Hadejia described the visit as a “pivotal moment” in Nigeria’s foreign relations, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted the strategic importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Brazil.
This visit comes as Nigeria prepares to host the second edition of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism this week in Abuja, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors.
