Real Madrid secured their first victory at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with a 3-1 win over Mexican side Pachuca, despite being reduced to 10 men just six minutes into the match.
Following a 1-1 draw in their opening game against Al Hilal, the Spanish champions were eager to claim all three points in their second group match. However, their plans were dealt an early blow when Marco Asensio was shown a red card for a last-man foul.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Madrid struck first as Jude Bellingham powered into the box and finished clinically to put his side ahead. Xabi Alonso’s team continued to dominate, and Arda Güler added a second goal before halftime, capping off a well-worked team move.
Federico Valverde extended the lead to 3-0 in the second half, effectively sealing the result, although Pachuca managed a late consolation goal through Gonzalo Montiel.
The win keeps Real Madrid’s hopes alive in the tournament as they head into their final group game.
