Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has voiced his determination to help the club secure its first FIFA Club World Cup title under the tournament’s new expanded format.

Speaking ahead of Madrid’s opening Group H clash against Al-Hilal on Wednesday, the Brazilian winger highlighted the significance of the competition for the Spanish giants.

“We’re determined to win this Club World Cup because it’s the only trophy Real Madrid hasn’t won yet,” Vinicius said, as quoted by Madrid Xtra. “People never forget the first time, we’re going for it.”

Vinicius also acknowledged the added motivation within the squad, currently managed by Xabi Alonso, as they aim to complete the club’s prestigious collection of international titles.

Real Madrid will also face Mexican side Pachuca and Austria’s RB Salzburg in the group stage of the tournament, which is being hosted in the United States.
