A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Frankie Aire, has issued a strong warning to a UK-based social media influencer over persistent online attacks directed at Governor Monday Okpebholo.

In a statement released Saturday in Benin City, Aire condemned what he described as a “campaign of hate,” pointing to over 30 videos posted online that allegedly aim to discredit the governor and his administration.

Aire expressed particular concern over one video in which the influencer reportedly urges bus drivers in Benin to “stone the governor” if the suspended Public Safety and Revenue (PSR) task force is reinstated.

He described such rhetoric as incitement to violence   a criminal offense under both Nigerian and UK law.

“Freedom of speech is not a license to incite violence or issue threats against public officials,” Aire said. “Even content produced abroad can have legal consequences if it promotes hate or endangers public safety.”

He also cautioned the influencer against using inflammatory content as a means to claim asylum, warning that legal authorities in both countries may soon intervene if the conduct continues.
