At the 2025 inauguration ceremony of the Federation of Egbedore Local Government Students Association (FELGSA), held at the Awo Civic Centre, the association’s Pioneer President, Alhaji Akeem Olajide, and prominent student leader, Comrade Oyegoke Akintayo (popularly known as Leader Teewhy), announced the launch of two annual academic competitions to support educational development within the local government.
Alhaji Akeem Olajide pledged to sponsor an annual Quiz Competition for secondary school students under the association. In his address, he expressed concern over the growing disconnect between student unionism and secondary school engagement, which he believes has weakened the association’s grassroots presence.
“I have observed a widening gap between the students’ union and the secondary school level, which has affected our mobilisation strength. To bridge this gap, I am committing to sponsor an annual Quiz Competition for FELGSA,” he declared.
In a separate address, Comrade Oyegoke Akintayo praised the contributions of past leaders and reaffirmed his commitment to the continued growth of the association. He emphasized the need to unite past, present, and future members through active engagement with younger students.
“The best way to sustain FELGSA is by fostering a common interest that strengthens our ties with secondary schools. Therefore, on behalf of myself and my family, I will be sponsoring an annual Mathematics Competition for the association,” Akintayo announced.
Both competitions are set to commence this year and will become annual events aimed at encouraging academic excellence and reinforcing student unity across Egbedore Local Government Area
