Turkish champions Galatasaray are reportedly eyeing Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as a potential replacement ahead of the summer transfer window with Victor Osimhen’s future still uncertain, this is according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli at the start of the just-concluded season, made an instant impact in Turkey. Despite a failed deadline day move to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia, the Nigerian striker found a fresh start at Galatasaray and delivered a sensational campaign that saw him pulled 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His prolific form led Galatasaray to a domestic double, clinching both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup. Osimhen also finished as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals.
With his loan deal officially ends later this month, Galatasaray are still hopeful of securing him on a permanent deal. However, with no clarity yet on the striker’s next move, the club is preparing a backup plan.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray have turned their attention to French international Christopher Nkunku as a potential successor. The 27-year-old, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £50.6 million, has struggled to secure a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
Nkunku made just nine Premier League starts in the 2024/25 season but played a more influential role in Chelsea’s successful UEFA Conference League campaign, where he tallied five goals and three assists in nine appearances. Across all competitions, he has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 56 appearances for the Blues.
Despite signing a six-year contract upon his arrival, Nkunku’s limited playing time has fueled speculation of an imminent exit, and Chelsea are reportedly open to offers that meet their valuation. Galatasaray are expected to table a formal bid in the coming weeks, seeing the versatile forward as a strong fit for their dynamic attacking system.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s next move remains the subject of speculation. Though Chelsea and Manchester United have maintained interest in the Nigerian international, recent reports suggest he is in advanced discussions with an unnamed Saudi Pro League club—who are reportedly prepared to outbid any European contenders.
Chelsea are also close to finalizing a £30 million deal for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, which could further reduce their urgency to pursue Osimhen.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Galatasaray’s strategy appears clear: retain their talisman if possible—but be ready to pivot swiftly if he departs.
