Former AC Milan and Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly on the brink of being named the new head coach of the Italian national team, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed on Saturday that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with only minor details left to finalise the deal.
“Gennaro Gattuso, on the verge of becoming new Italy head coach with agreement due to be finalised in the next days. Final details and then deal done,” Romano posted.
Gattuso, renowned for his fiery temperament both as a player and a manager, is expected to replace Luciano Spalletti. The Italian Football Federation is anticipated to make the appointment official once talks are concluded.
