Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, as tensions between the two nations continue to spiral amid ongoing military conflict.

The judiciary’s news outlet, *Mizan Online*, on Monday confirmed the hanging of Esmaeil Fekri, who was convicted of espionage and serious national security crimes, including “corruption on Earth” and “waging war against God.” Authorities said his death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court after due legal process.

Fekri’s execution comes on the heels of a bloody escalation between Iran and Israel, sparked by a surprise Israeli air assault that has killed at least 224 people in Iran — including senior military officials and nuclear scientists. Iran responded with drone and missile attacks that, according to Israeli reports, have claimed at least 24 lives.

Adding to the heightened tension, Iranian police on Sunday announced the arrest of two more individuals suspected of links to Mossad in Alborz province, just west of Tehran. On the same day, Israeli authorities said they had apprehended two citizens believed to be spying for Iran.

The two countries, bitter rivals for decades, have long accused each other of covert operations and assassinations. Iran does not officially recognise Israel and has consistently blamed it for sabotage and the killing of its nuclear experts.
