Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has fired back at Tanzanian blogger Mange Kimambi after Kimambi criticized Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla, and her partner, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, for sharing content on social media during Tanzania’s tense political climate.
In a now-viral Instagram post, Kimambi referred to Priscilla as a “sweet girl” but urged the couple to take a five-month break from posting, claiming their romantic content could serve as a distraction during what she described as Tanzania’s “fight of a lifetime” ahead of national election.
Kimambi also accused the couple of unintentionally promoting government propaganda.
Iyabo Ojo responded with a scathing rebuttal, calling the remarks “disrespectful” and “an attempt to instill fear.”
“Calling their content stupid and trying to instill fear is unacceptable,” Ojo said. “I’ve raised my daughter to be confident and stay true to herself.”
Addressing speculation about Priscilla’s recent wedding, which spanned ceremonies in both Nigeria and Tanzania, Ojo clarified that the event was fully funded by their family and not connected to any government resources.
“It’s our tradition that the bride’s family handles the expenses. I planned a beautiful wedding for her in Nigeria, and we delivered.”
Ojo also pushed back against what she saw as Kimambi overstepping boundaries.
“You live in America but want to control my daughter’s actions in Tanzania? She will post what she wants, when she wants. She’s loved, and we protect our own.”
The lavish wedding celebrations kicked off in February with a traditional ceremony and culminated in May in Dar es Salaam. The event sparked massive social media buzz, with the hashtag #JP2025 trending widely.
