President Bola Tinubu has canceled the previously scheduled national broadcast for Nigeria’s 26th Democracy Day.
Instead, he will deliver his address to the nation from the National Assembly during a joint session on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The change was confirmed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, who cited the president’s planned appearance at the legislative session as the reason for the adjustment.
“Due to President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled attendance at the National Assembly Joint Session, the Presidential National Broadcast on June 12 has been cancelled. President Tinubu will deliver his address from the National Assembly,” Imohiosen stated.
Other Democracy Day activities will go ahead as planned, although the traditional military parade, a highlight of the celebrations, has also been canceled. No official reason has been provided for this additional change.
