The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has declared Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

In a public notice shared via its official Instagram handle on Friday, the agency urged anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to reach out through its contact channels.

The move follows Okoye’s failure to respond to multiple invitations by NAPTIP after a controversial Instagram livestream where he claimed to have had sex with a 15-year-old girl. The statement sparked widespread outrage, prompting official intervention and investigations.

NAPTIP had initially summoned Okoye in a letter dated May 28, requesting his appearance at its headquarters in Abuja on May 30. The singer failed to honour the invitation, later responding that he was unavailable and suggested rescheduling for June 26. Despite a follow-up response from the agency emphasizing the urgency of the matter, he did not appear on the proposed date either.

The agency has now described the issue as a matter of national concern and stated that it would not accommodate Okoye’s proposed timeline. NAPTIP also addressed a viral video where the artist dismissed the original claim as a publicity stunt, a move that did little to ease public backlash.

Sources within the agency confirmed that legal action is being considered due to his repeated absences. Officials are consulting legal teams to determine the next steps, especially in light of recent disruptions in court proceedings due to a judicial strike.

NAPTIP assured the public that it is working with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that Okoye faces the allegations. The agency reiterated its commitment to upholding justice, particularly in matters involving minors and sexual abuse.
