Amid ongoing internal tensions in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) concerning the National Secretary position and ahead of the party’s 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, security personnel reportedly manhandled and arrested a staff member at the PDP headquarters.
The arrested individual, Thomas Ibu, works in the party’s Publicity Department. According to a PUNCH correspondent present at the scene, several police officers surrounded and forcefully detained Ibu at the PDP National Secretariat in Wuse Zone 5.
The arrest sparked commotion as fellow PDP staff attempted to intervene and prevent the police from taking Ibu away.
However, they were quickly overpowered, and the officers left with the detained worker.
As of the time of this report, the reason for Ibu’s arrest remains unknown.
