Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has expressed pride in participating in the 2025 edition of the Ojúde Ọba Festival, calling it a timeless celebration of Ijebu heritage, unity, and loyalty to the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

In a statement on Sunday, Abiodun highlighted the importance of the annual cultural event held in Ijebu Ode, which gathers Ijebu sons and daughters from around the world to honour their traditions and pay tribute to the respected monarch.

“As proud sons and daughters of Ijebuland, we were deeply honoured to partake in this year’s Ojúde Ọba Festival a celebration of our heritage, unity, and unwavering loyalty to the revered throne of the Awujale,” he wrote.

He emphasized that his presence was not just ceremonial but a declaration of cultural identity and leadership.

“We wore full traditional attire elegantly tailored agbádá with matching fila, and coral beads symbolizing our royal roots and the dignity of our people. Every element was chosen to reflect the sacredness of the occasion.”

Standing before the Awujale and regberegbe groups, Abiodun said he felt the “heartbeat of a culture that continues to inspire and unite generations.”

“We are truly grateful for the warmth shown by our people. Together, we will preserve this vibrant heritage while building a prosperous and inclusive Ogun State that honours its past and embraces its future,” he added.

The Ojúde Ọba Festival remains one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural celebrations, deeply rooted in Yoruba tradition and showcasing the rich legacy of the Ijebu people.
