Local News Osinbajo distances himself from fake AI videos endorsing fraudulent products Modupeola Showunmi June 12, 2025 The Office of the Former Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has raised concern over the circulation of artificial intelligence-generated videos that falsely depict him endorsing questionable products and financial schemes. In a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Mohammed Braimah, the office denounced the unauthorized use of Osinbajo’s likeness and voice, describing the content as deceptive and misleading. “It has come to our attention that the image and voice of His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, are being misused in AI-generated videos to promote products and services he has no connection with,” the statement said. The misleading clips allegedly show Osinbajo advertising a hypertension drug and promoting a fictitious money-making venture. The videos, the office emphasized, are entirely fabricated. “One of the videos falsely portrays him recommending hypertension medication, while another uses an AI-simulated voice to endorse a fraudulent financial scheme,” the statement explained. The former Vice President’s office clarified that he has no involvement in any of the content or the products being promoted and warned the public against being misled. “These videos are fake and do not have the endorsement or approval of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo,” it added. The public was urged to be cautious and to verify the legitimacy of any promotional content, especially those involving public figures. “We advise the public to remain vigilant and to confirm the authenticity of such materials before making any decisions based on them,” the statement concluded.
