The Osun State Amotekun Corps has confirmed the unexpected death of one of its operatives, Sheriff Ogundiran, who reportedly collapsed at home while getting ready for work and was later pronounced dead.

Speaking on Thursday, the corps’ spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, explained that Ogundiran, who was serving as the Provost of B Division at the Ila-Orangun Command, fell ill without warning and could not be revived.

“It was a sudden collapse, and sadly, he was confirmed dead shortly afterward,” Idowu said, describing the incident as a great loss to both the corps and the wider security community in the state.

In a condolence message issued by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the organization expressed deep sorrow and sympathy to Ogundiran’s family, friends, colleagues, and the people of Ila-Orangun.

“Sheriff Ogundiran wasn’t just an operative; he was a disciplined, loyal, and tireless professional. He was a key pillar in our command structure and a proud son of Osun who served with steadfast commitment,” Omoyele stated.

He emphasized that Ogundiran’s death was both shocking and heartbreaking, adding that his contributions to maintaining peace in Ila-Orangun and surrounding areas would not be forgotten.

“Sheriff was known for his bravery, professionalism, and dedication to duty. His impact and legacy will remain a part of Osun Amotekun Corps’ history,” Omoyele added.

The Corps Commander also reiterated Amotekun’s dedication to honoring fallen operatives by upholding the values they stood for, and pledged that the late officer’s family would receive necessary support.
