Grammy-winning artist Tems has clapped back at body-shaming remarks following her performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, USA.

After sharing event clips online, a social media user commented dismissively: “Real one knows she just has big laps, not actual ass.”

Tems responded strongly via X (formerly Twitter), writing.

“Seven years in, and I have to say it, y’all are weird. ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat’… Dog, it’s mine. Asking me to ‘show my bumbum’? Nah, show me yours first. It’s just a body. I’ve never hidden it. I’ve just never felt the need to prove anything. The more you don’t like it, the better for me. But enough now move on from my bum.”

Her post has since gone viral, with many praising her stance on body autonomy and self-acceptance.

Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, also stepped in “insult me? Fine. But insult Temi, Stanley or Lekan? We’ve got a problem. Bye for now.”

This isn’t the first time Tems has faced scrutiny over her looks. After winning her first Grammy in 2023, her stage outfit and moves drew mixed reactions.

Despite usually opting for modest fashion, she remains a target for unsolicited opinions.

Still, Tems continues to push back, unapologetically herself and unbothered.
