Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their top choice to replace Ange Postecoglou, according to multiple reports on Monday.

Postecoglou was sacked on Friday after two seasons in charge, despite guiding Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years with a Europa League victory last month. The Australian’s dismissal followed a dismal Premier League campaign, where Spurs finished 17th, losing 22 of their 38 matches.

Frank, who has managed Brentford since 2018, led the club to Premier League promotion in 2021 after a 74-year absence. Since then, he has kept the Bees competitive in the top flight, with finishes of 13th, 9th, 16th, and 10th, despite regular high-profile player departures.

Securing the Danish manager under contract until 2027 would reportedly cost Spurs around £10 million ($14 million) in compensation. The BBC states that a formal approach is expected in the coming days.

Frank began his career in coaching within Denmark’s national youth setup before a managerial spell at Brøndby. He joined Brentford as an assistant before stepping up to replace Dean Smith in 2018.

Tottenham have qualified for next season’s Champions League thanks to their Europa League triumph over Manchester United in Bilbao, where they won 1–0.

Meanwhile, Brentford’s star forward Bryan Mbeumo, who scored 20 league goals last season, is drawing interest from Manchester United. Reports suggest that Frank would be eager to bring the Cameroon international with him to north London if he takes the Spurs job.
