Super Falcons forward, Francisca Ordega, has expressed confidence that Nigeria is poised to dominate African women’s football once again at the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The team is looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance at the 2022 edition, also held in Morocco, where they lost three matches and finished in fourth place, their worst outing in the tournament’s history.

With the 2024 finals set to begin next month, Justine Madugu’s squad will aim to restore pride as they compete in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.

Ordega, who plies her trade with Al-Ittihad Ladies, affirmed the team’s determination to reclaim the title.

“Our aim is to win, no doubt. You don’t go into a battle expecting to lose. We’re going for the trophy,” she told Bold Sports.

Nigeria, nine-time champions of the competition, will kick off their campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, July 6, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
