Angela Peters, a 56-year-old Australian grandmother of 12, has made headlines after revealing how she gave birth to twin girls with her 39-year-old Nigerian husband, Bright.
In an interview with The Sun UK, Peters recounted how their love story began in 2020 through a dating app. Initially chatting with Bright’s older brother Emeka, who lived in Senegal, Peters’ attention shifted when she saw a family photo that included Bright, then working as a cook in South Africa.
“I felt an instant connection—it was like being struck by lightning,” she said.
After months of long-distance communication, Peters travelled to Nigeria in February 2021, where the couple married just nine days later in a small ceremony in Lagos. Despite initial shock from her children, she was confident they’d accept Bright once they met him.
Previously married and divorced in 2019, Peters said she never planned to have more children but changed her mind after seeing Bright’s deep desire for fatherhood. Although she was going through perimenopause, Bright optimistically predicted they’d one day have twin girls.
Facing age restrictions for IVF in Australia, Peters explored alternatives and ultimately opted for treatment in Nigeria, where doctors agreed to proceed using an egg donor and Bright’s sperm. She became pregnant in December 2023 and gave birth to twin daughters, Khorus and Knowyn, in August 2024.
Despite public criticism and medical concerns, Peters described the pregnancy as her smoothest yet. With encouragement from her children, she documented her experience on TikTok to inspire other women.
Her daughter Deina, 28, admitted she initially feared Bright might be a scammer, but was reassured when her mother chose to undergo IVF abroad rather than ask her to be a surrogate. Now, she praises her mother’s resilience and devotion.
“Mum is amazing with the girls. Watching her with them is truly inspiring,” she said.
Angela Peters now uses her story to encourage women who dream of motherhood later in life: “Don’t give up. Age doesn’t have to be a barrier.”
