Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has praised Super Falcons midfielder and Kwara-born football star, Halimatu Ayinde, OON, for her outstanding performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.
Ayinde, who plays for FC Rosengård, played a key role as a central/defensive midfielder throughout the tournament and was instrumental in Nigeria’s triumphant run, including the team’s decisive victory over host nation Morocco in the final match at Rabat Stadium on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
In a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Kwara governor , Olayinka Fafoluyi, Governor AbdulRazaq met with Ayinde shortly after the Super Falcons were officially received and honoured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025.
During their meeting, Governor AbdulRazaq who also serves as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum congratulated Ayinde on her achievements, describing her as a symbol of resilience, excellence, and professionalism.
“We’re proud of you, Halimatu. Your performance brought pride to Kwara and Nigeria. You are a shining inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country,” the governor said.
In her response, Ayinde expressed gratitude for the governor’s support and pledged to continue representing Kwara and Nigeria with pride while serving as a positive role model for young athletes.
