The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Idi Buba, accused of fatally stabbing his father, Jelli Buba, during a heated argument in Fotta District, located in Gombi Local Government Area.
This tragic event unfolded just a day after a similar case in Ondo State, where a woman was arrested for allegedly killing her boyfriend over infidelity.
Speaking via phone with PUNCH Metro, the state’s police spokesperson, Yahaya Nguroje, stated that the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, shared further details on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the fatal confrontation happened on Monday, July 28, within the family compound. According to him, the suspect stabbed his father multiple times, including deep wounds to the neck and back.
The injured man was rushed to a nearby primary health center in Fotta but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Makama wrote:
“A man identified as Idi Buba has allegedly stabbed his biological father, Buba Jelli, to death in Fotta District, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 28, following a yet-to-be-determined altercation between the two in their family compound.”
He added:
“Sources in the community said Idi attacked his father with a knife, inflicting deep wounds on his neck and back. The victim was rushed to the Primary Health Care Centre in Fotta, where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
Security personnel have recovered the knife believed to have been used in the crime. The victim’s remains have been deposited at a local morgue pending autopsy, while investigations into the motive continue.
Makama added:
“Security sources said a knife suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene by security personnel.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the health facility for autopsy, while further inquiries into the motive behind the killing are ongoing.”
Nguroje confirmed to PUNCH on Tuesday:
“Yes, it is true. The command has apprehended the suspect. He is in our custody.”
