The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Yilwatda Nentawe, as the party’s new national chairman.

 

The announcement was made during the party’s 14th NEC meeting, currently underway at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

 

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, moved the motion for Nentawe’s appointment, which was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

 

Nentawe was sworn in immediately after the motion was passed. He officially took the oath of office at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, in the presence of top APC officials.

 

Hailing from Plateau State in the North Central region, Nentawe was the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections.
