The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, have arrived in Madina, Saudi Arabia, for the burial of renowned businessman and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

A statement issued Tuesday by Barau’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, confirmed that the delegation landed at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina at about 5:15 a.m. local time.

Dantata, a highly respected figure in Nigeria’s business and philanthropic communities, will be laid to rest later today in the Islamic holy city, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.

Other dignitaries on the trip include Kano APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, Senator Muntari Dandutse; and Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ali Madaki.

Also in the delegation are Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari (representing Makoda/Dambatta Federal Constituency), Hon. Sani Bala, Usman Kansila, and Ahmad Dantata, the son of the late elder statesman.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported the passing of Alhaji Aminu Dantata at the age of 94. His death was confirmed on Saturday in a Facebook post by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, who wrote:

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata…”
