Ralph Nwosu, founding National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that the party’s leadership voluntarily stepped down to allow former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola to take the reins in repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking Wednesday at the official unveiling of the ADC as the platform for a new opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Nwosu said the leadership change is part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the party and offer a credible political alternative.

The event was held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Mark and Aregbesola were introduced as the interim National Chairman and National Secretary of the coalition.

“We all agreed to resign so that Mark, Aregbesola, and others can lead us to the Villa,” Nwosu said.

“With their proven track records and deep commitment to the nation, this transition marks a new beginning not just for the ADC, but for Nigeria as a whole.”
